Militants launch attack in the town of Mach, Kachhi District of Balochistan

Increased security is likely in and around the town of Mach Kachhi District of Balochistan Province, amid security forces’ response to militant attacks as of early Jan. 30. Explosions and gunfire targeted security facilities in the affected region late Jan. 29, reportedly killing at least two people. Reports indicate an unspecified number of militants from the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) have attacked several facilities, including Mach railway station and Mach jail, and have taken control of National Highway 65 (NH65)near Pinjra Bridge.

Heightened security measures are likely until security operations and investigations end. Additional attacks and armed clashes may occur. Checkpoints and increased patrols could prompt localized transport and business disruptions across Balochistan, especially in cities such as Quetta, Gwadar, and Turbat.
