BankIslami reports profit of Rs. 5.49B in first quarter of 2025

BankIslami, one of the country’s fastest growing Islamic financial institutions, has announced its financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2025. During the period, the bank recorded a profit before tax (PBT) of Rs. 5.49 billion, a 6.3% increase in total income and a significant 98% increase in non-fund-based income, reflecting a strong start to the year and the successful execution of its diversified strategy.

During the period under review, deposits grew by 16%, mainly due to growth in current accounts (24.1%) and savings accounts (26.6%). The bank ended the quarter with a strong Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) of (22.89%), which was almost double the minimum regulatory requirement of 11.50%, reflecting prudent capital management and strong financial supervision.

The Asset Deposit Ratio (ADR) remained above 50%, which is a very good ratio, while the growth ratio improved to 7.2% from 7.4% at the end of December 2024. During the quarter, BankIslami introduced Pakistan’s first fully digital Islamic banking experience, AIK (aik). Designed for digitally native and Sharia-compliant customers, the app offers a mobile-first and end-to-end banking experience.
